SWCSD #2 District Kitchen Renovations
Groathouse Construction was selected as the Construction Manager at Risk for the complex replacement of the existing District Kitchen on the lower level of Lincoln Middle School. This was the final phase of a full building renovation. Because of the scope of work, we collaborated with the school district to create a two-summer construction plan, with the second summer scheduled within a tight 4.5-month window.
Phase 1 included renovating the office, receiving area, staff restrooms, and break space. It also involved upgrades to the mechanical and electrical systems and exterior concrete work for the lift replacement. Phase 2 required the complete demolition of existing coolers, freezers, exhaust hoods, and kitchen equipment, followed by a full renovation and installation of all new systems and equipment.
A major challenge was routing the grease duct for the new exhaust hoods through occupied floors above to reach the roof exhaust fans. By working closely with the district and design team, we completed the project on schedule and under the Guaranteed Maximum Price—accurately reflecting the reliability we bring as a school renovation contractor in Wyoming.
