Half Acre Gymnasium Renovations

This project involved a 49,000 sf renovation and a 93,000 sf addition to the existing gymnasium on the busy university campus. This project had several unique situations:

• To preserve the historic facade, the exterior wall systems required specialized design to seamlessly integrate the addition with the existing building while keeping the appearance consistent with the rest of the campus.
• Site staging was very limited in the heart of the campus. Our team phased the project to best accommodate the limited space for storage.
• The facility remained operational during construction. Our crews worked with staff and students to ensure no loss of use took place. Work was phased – the staff was moved as areas became available, and we built temporary work-out areas for students.
