Our firm constructed the Original Firearms Museum in the 1980s, and was hired back decades later to complete this sensitive renovation. The fourth project at the Museum in a short span, the Firearms experience renovation was by far the most complicated of them all, and all of the work was completed while the building remained open to the public.

During the design development, our pre-construction crew provided budget alignment items, including over a million dollars in savings on the casework by connecting with our local casework subcontractor rather than using the specified display cases. This project involved:

  • A shell upgrade to the outside of the museum.
  • Demolition of the interior museum.

Upgrades during the renovation included:

  • Addition of a spiral staircase to the lower level.
  • Upgrades to lighting, finishes, and displays on the lower-level.

Technical upgrades to the “experience” and education were incorporated, while sensitive areas such as the Winchester factory and the historic cabin were preserved. Preservation of these historic pieces were paramount.
